Chris plays on a truly challenging role, a bone density scanners salesman that has not yet paid off. Meanwhile his wife, Linda is fed up have to work double shifts just to help him support the family because they have a son together who spends a lot of time in day care watching TV. Chris is determined to build a better life for himself and his son after his wife left him. A glimmer of hope arrives when he is accepted for an internship at an investment firm after a challenging and difficult 6 months of training. Now he has no income and he has to scarify his nights and weekends to sell the scanner and at the same time he had to take care of his son, Christopher. Chris is constantly looking for a consistent quality of life, but seems to get beaten down at every road. He goes from living in an apartment, motel, restroom and finally to a homeless shelter. Only his love and faith for his son that get him through. Chris final success is totally inspiring and the determination to survive especially for the sake of beloved one quite amazing. His hard work has paid off and he is offered the position in the investment firm due to his intelligence and ability to adapt with any situation.

Based on a true story about a man named Christopher Gardner. Gardner has invested heavily in a device known as a "Bone Density scanner". He feels like he has made these devices. However, they do not sell as they are marginally better than the current technology at a much higher price. As Gardner tries to figure out how to sell them, his wife leaves him, he loses his house, his bank account, and credit cards. Forced to live out in the streets with his son, Gardner is now desperate to find a steady job; he takes on a job as a stockbroker, but before he can receive pay, he needs to go through 6 months of training, and to sell his devices.
1) When Chris is unable to pay the cab, he leaps out of the car and screams "I'm sorry, I'm sorry" while running in the street and the driver chases him. That scene, I cannot find anywhere! The narration that comes right after the cab scene is this:

"It was right then that I started thinking about Thomas Jefferson on the Declaration of Independence and the part about our right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. And I remember thinking how did he know to put the pursuit part in there? That maybe happiness is something that we can only pursue and maybe we can actually never have it. No matter what. How did he know that? "

2) When Gardner takes his son to the beach towards the end of the movie, he narrates:

"The next day, after work, we just went to the beach. Far away from anything, everything, just Christopher and me. Far away from buses, and noise, and my constant disappointment in my ten gallon head, in myself. Because when I was young and I'd get an A on a history test.. or whatever.. I'd get this good feeling about all the things that I could be. And then I never became any of them."

I think one should not take a stable work environment for granted. Many times, we forget what it felt like to be trying for a job, interviewing, trying to impress, expounding on your strengths...and fall into the "I have the job now...how can I do as little as possible" phase. Always keep in mind, what your life would be like if you lost your job, and you will likely appreciate going to work every day.

From this movie, I have learned something beneficial for me especially to face my challenging student’s life. Even though I go through a lot of problems in my life, I should not give up easily. Sometimes I thought that I am the most unlucky person in the world as the problems come to me persistently. I think why I should face all of this? Why Allah does not choose other people to bear all of the problems? When I can be free from all of these? I keep on blaming the fate for making my life miserable. In the movie, Chris Gardner gave me the true picture about how a miserable life looks like. If compare to my problems, I can say that they are not big enough to make my life upside down. He is very courage to carry on his life until at a stage that he does not have her beloved wife to encourage him. If I were him, I might surrender my life as nobody’s there to support me. There is no reason for me to keep selling the bone-density scanners which are really difficult to be sold. Apart from that, he chose to pursue his life doing internship in order to be a broker which he also does not know whether he might get the job or not. But, to see how hard he tried to study in a very inconvenient place and succeed, he had opened my mind to think. Am I struggling enough to encounter my problems and have a wonderful life? From now on, I have to think thoroughly in order to change my life. If he can do even a ridiculous thing to change his life, why I cannot? The choice is mine, so I need to try my best to have a better life.

From my reading from the internet and watching the movie, I found that Pursuit of Happyness is about Christopher Gardner, a man who went through many trials and hardship to be successful. He was born to a mother who spent time in jail and experienced abuse. He did not know who his father was. When he becomes adult Chris joined the Navy and began medical training. He got married and had a son. The experience of having no father allowed Chris to be a good father to his son, Christopher at all circumstances. He invests his family's savings in portable bone-density scanners which he tries to demonstrate and sell to doctors. After seeing a red Ferrari, he wanted to be a stockbroker. The new relationship with the Dean Witter manager allowed him the chance to become an intern stockbroker against 19 competitors. He worked hardly toward towards that, experienced homeless and left by his wife due to financial problem. Regardless of these challenges, Chris never reveals his lowly circumstances to his co-workers. That shows determination and motivation to work towards a goal even though it seems almost impossible to achieve. After being hired by Bearstone’s stock company, Chris gradually succeeded as a stockbroker. He later went on to open his own brokerage firm. The message that I gained by this movie is to not give up when things get difficult and that success is worth working hard for. People who had not through anything should watch this movie and realize how fortunate they are. I like this movie because it shows the steps Chris took to become successful. The movie did not just go straight to the success nevertheless it started with hardship. It also gives off a good message. I think the movie is good for youngsters which help to guide us to become more reliable through the challenging life in the future.

1026342-The Pursuit of Happpyness.Even if i watch it for the third times,it’s still an amazing movie that always make me eager to see what’s going to happen next.I love the character of Chris Gardner. He was a very good father that even when he was going through a very difficult times,he still cares and keep on his undying loves towards his son,Christopher.Chris also being optimistic, believing that everything is going to be better and that his wife should have trusted him.Through the character of Linda,I’ve learnt that no matter what happens,we shouldn’t quit and everyone deserves to have another chances. As in the movie, instead of being there through the thick and thin,Linda simply abandoned her family when her family was at the peak of hard stage.I feel touched to see how great loves could be.In this movie,Chris showed his endless love towards his son, provided the best for him, gave him shelter and tried his best to comfort him even though those things(shelter, comfort) were impossible to be achieved at that particular time. This movie teaches me a lot about the theme of life, about how hard a life can be.We will have thorns and gravels, weed and garbage that belongs to us and also pouring rains that seems unstoppable. We are hoping for endless summer, but God test us with severe cyclone. That is the fact of life that not everything is going to be colourful as we hoped so.This movie also instilled in me that no matter how hard life is serving you, believe that there is always other people who is going a whole lot harder than you.Don’t just simply give up and bear in mind that God is not going to test human being beyond their own capabilities. After the hurricane is going to be the rainbow in just the matter of time, provided that we thrive and put the efforts as much and as best as we can.

There is part in the movie that I like; "Don't let people say you can't do it", said by chris gardner. From my view, this phrase can motivate oneself by not giving up even the others looking down on you.
This phrase also will make a person keeps on trying and then prove that themselves will able to success as long they are strive hardly. Don't mind what others say about you, because it's only demotivate you and might affect your concentration on what are you doing.

While watching Chris Gardner pursuing his “happyness”, I feel so ashamed of myself. I seem to own a lot and purely indulge myself in this comfort. Chris loses his wife and home. With his only son, they stick together through thick and thin. With no money in his account, they sleep wherever they could. Turning point of his life is when he meets a man getting out of a red Ferrari and said that he is a stockbroker. Chris enters internship that offers no salary. He strives hard until he lands on a full time position there. He had strategy that enabled him to know many greats people. He really makes good use of time. He knows what he wants and ready to fight for it. The struggle, make me wonder if I will be able to get through it if that happen to me. With no one to help, no money, no home, how will I endure all these. Would I be able to sleep anywhere including bathroom? This make me feel very grateful to what I have now. Now I know that I should have a goal in life and be proactive. I also appreciate the time that I have and use it wisely. Chris never gives up when a problem rise. Hope us too will have this kind of attitude when facing difficulties. Life is not a bed of roses. But always believe that Allah will never give a burden that we cannot take.(Al-Baqarah:286)
Allah burdens not a person beyond his scope. He gets reward for that (good) which he has earned, and he is punished for that (evil) which he has earned. "Our Lord! Punish us not if we forget or fall into error, our Lord! Lay not on us a burden like that which You did lay on those before us (Jews and Christians); our Lord! Put not on us a burden greater than we have strength to bear. Pardon us and grant us Forgiveness. Have mercy on us. You are our Maula (Patron, Suppor-ter and Protector, etc.) and give us victory over the disbelieving people

The movie ‘Pursuit Of Happiness’ is based on a true story about Chris Gardner who rose from being homeless to become a stockbroker. It is an outstanding movie that contains a number of splendid life lessons that really stuck with me.
The first one is we should never give up and never think that we cannot do something. In our life, there will be countless number of challenges but of course we should have a high determination and also motivation to overcome the obstacles. We have to keep trying and not afraid of failure. The most important thing is, we should believe in ourselves. The moment we believe, everything else will become easy. Successful people always finish what they have started. In one of the most powerful scenes of the movie, Chris tells his son that he cannot do something. After a few moments reflecting, he again looks at his son and says “Don’t ever let anyone tell you that you can’t do something, not even me.”
Furthermore, we should be grateful and thankful to Allah of whatever that we have in our life. It is because, outside there, there are a lot of people who are more unfortunate than us and Allah will not give us the challenge that we cannot overcome it. As Allah mention in surah Al-Baqarah, verse 286 : “On no soul does Allah place a burden greater than it can bear. It gets every good that it earns, and it suffers every ill that it earns”.
Besides that, we have to think very carefully before making any big decision and never put all of our money in one basket. We have to think the advantages and also the disadvantages in every action that we want to take. In this movie, Chris Gardner spent all of his money buying a bunch of portable bone scanners that he was convinced would make him rich. He made the mistake of risking everything he had financially in the hopes of becoming rich.
Lastly, I think, in a marriage, we need a supportive and understanding partner. In my opinion, the Chris Gardner’s wife should not leave him when he is in difficulty. Chris Gardner had to raise their son alone without his wife. Actually, he really needs a support from the one that he loves to increase his self motivation and help him survive better. His wife should consider and understand his situation and try to help him to overcome his problems like the famous quote said, ‘In every successful man, there is always a woman behind’.

I think that’s all my opinion about this movie. Hope you will enjoy reading my comment madam =)) Thank you..
Sincerely, < Nurfarahin Binti Mohd. Fuad >

When watched that movie the part that really touch my feeling was when the men was accepted to work at the company. This is because the man was really work hard and never give up to achieve what he want, even he become homeless and having a son to taking care. He still continues their internship in order to getting a job the he want to be as he knows the company not pays for the internship. He’s wife also really don’t understand his situation. But, that not make him give up. His son may give him strength to life and the most important thing is his kind to all people around him. So, we must work hard and never give up in life.

The story "Pursuit of Happiness" teaches us that the nature of human beings are are to be happy, joyous, to be in a fit and healthy state, and have a good relationship with the other people especially with the family members. This story is about a person named Chris Gardner. His job was to sell the bone density scanner to doctors at the beginning. At first his business run well but later his business profit declined rapidly. This caused his family to be separated.
This story teaches us to dream big and believe in ourselves. Even though Chris Gardner is not very well educated, but he never let anything block him from doing what he desired. We must work hard like him. He worked hard day and night in order to pass in the examination and his internship in that company and get the job. All his hard work is paid off at the end and he finally became the stoke broker. Therefore, we must believe that nothing is impossible and we can do it as long as we believe in it and never doubt ourselves.
Furthermore, this story also teaches us that we must carry our responsibility no matter what happen to us. As Chris Gardner in the story, he is a good father. He worked very hard without neglecting his responsibility towards his son. He made sure that he worked well without wasting time and get back at 5pm o'clock in order to get place in the home for the homeless.
Moreover, the story teaches us to not losing hope easily. As the story showed that Chris Gardner is homeless, penny less and jobless for a certain period of time, he did not give up. He still searched for a better job to make his family, his son happy.
The best quote taken from the story, " Don't let someone tell you that you can't do something. Not even me. You got a dream, you gotta protect it. When people can't do something themselves, they're gonna tell you that you can't do it. You want something, go get it"

The most prominent moral value in this movie are courage and hardworking. These moral value we can see vividly in Chris character. As the movie start until the end, Chris always have courage and hardworking. Many hospital did want to buy his machine because it was too expensive. But Chris did not give up,he still try to sell it to another hospital. At the same time he compete to become a stockbroker. To kill two birds with one stone is not a easy job. You must have courage and hardworking. I like this movie because it tell you that if you have courage and hardworking you can achieve your dream no matter what obstacle you have been through......

Bismillahirahmanirahiim.Allahumma Solli A’la Saiyidina Muhammad. Amma’ ba’du.

I’m glad because my lovely lecturer just show me such a great film casting by Will Smith, one of my favourite actor with his son.I caught Will Smith’s The Pursuit of Happyness during last class and came away highly affected. I’m trying doing some research by surveing internet about this real story and learn many moral value in this story .First is where the title comes from?“Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" is one of the most famous phrases in the United States Declaration of Independence. These three aspects are listed among the "unalienable rights" of man.

The movie shows how strong will and determination can change a person’s life. But in desperate condition ,its become more realistic..In one scene,Chris is further set back when his bank account is garnished by the IRS for unpaid income taxes, and he and his young son are evicted. As a result they are homeless, and are forced at one point to stay in a bathroom at a subway station. Motivation drives him to find the Glide Memorial United Methodist Church, which has a homeless shelter primarily for single mothers and their children. The church's owner does not let him stay due to the fact that it is for women and children, although she tells him about a local church that also provides shelter, but has very limited space. Due to demand for the limited rooms, Chris must frantically race from his internship work early each afternoon in order to land a place in line.

What more is if you have any problem ,you need to solve it without delay. If you postpone to find solution of your problem,it will a burden to you soon.Sometime, problem is not just a a test from God but is also offer chance to your life .Or the obstacles can make your more stronger. Moreover is the problems is not solved quickly or you just ignore it,it become more and more burden to you.Maybe lastly it will make you give up.In student life,I agree if we always like to postpone our homeworks like report, assignment and study for quizes,at last we does’t make up enough time to make all those things and we become bad and can be give up in our study. Thus this will affect our performance.
Difficulties teach man to appreciate every value given by God.As stated in one hadith narrated by Ibn Abbas there are two ni’mat or gift give by ALLAH which man always forget which are healthy and time. In the movie, we see Will Smith juggle a stock broking job and a medical equipment sales job together. He worked on the sales on the weekend and broking on weekdays.Jobs that pay you based on time as just taking away the most valuable resource of your life from you. Time is the only limited resource in the world..As a student,we must spend our time wisely. We are not only a student of Biomedical Science course for example but we also a student of ALLAH.So,grab the chance in university life to gain as many knowledge and experience as you can before you grade from the university.

Furthermore, friend is a mirror of yours. If we make a friend with those who are amazing or great person,we have a probability to become like them. Thus, the people around us play a n important role to influence our life either it will affect our charateristic, our thought and our habit also. You are who you mix with. This press on that important of networking also for the better performance of career. In our study,it can be applied that if we are mixing with those friends who always play around,we tend to be like them even so before this we are hardworking student. If we are mixing with those friends who always study early, but in meantime always going to the Religious Talk,we can balance world and hereafter.InsyaALLAH,that’s my humble opinion.Always find positive environment and biah solehah.

with love

'The Pursuit of Happyness' is about the struggling of Chris Gardner to achieve his dreams. Chris faced many obstacles throughout his journey in life to make his achieve his dreams. His wife left him and he is raising his 5-year-old son alone, without any real income. Determined to provide for his son Christopher no matter what happen, Chris enters an unpaid internship program at a brokerage firm in hopes of landing the one paid position available at the end of the training program.
Sleeping in bathrooms, homeless shelters, and shabby hotels when he's got the money to afford a room, Chris never gives up on the idea he can land a job and provide his son with a better life.

This is the best movie that I ever seen. The movie is about how he struggle in his life and how he make it to the final just awesome. When i first watch this movie, my tears are falling apart from my eyes.

The main lesson that I can learned from this movie is never give up in achieving our dream. Keep fighting harder as the the journey to success is not easy and full of obstacles that we must overcome. in the movie, Smith lost his wife and he had to go through most of it as a homeless man. But all the time, he had his son by his side. No pain, no gain. No effort, no success. Do not let our dream become distant prayer and our true potential will never materialize. Fighting for your dream is for your future. No fear, just struggle until reaching the goals of your life.

“Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength,
the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.” (Harriet Tubman)

The part in the movie that caught my attention is when Smith advises something to his son, Christopher. The advise is, "don’t ever let someone tell you that you can’t do something not even me.” What I understood from the sentence is don't let anyone to tell you are not so good as they are and don't make those things to become a heavy 'baggage' that you need to carry throughout your life in achieving your goals. Always have positive thinking and you must trust in self that you can do it.

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do.
So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor.
Catch the trade winds in your sails.
Explore. Dream. Discover.”
-Mark Twain

Chris teaches us never to lose faith in ourselves, our abilities and in mankind. Living in today’s world of diminishing integrity, this just seems to be the reiteration that we all need. After all, it is this single-minded dedication to what we believe in, especially when we are down in the dumps, which will help us ultimately survive the day. He teached us not to hanker over the trivial pursuits of life, but to instead focus on the bigger dream of being happy. He proves to us that no matter how hard the road may be, to never, ever take our eyes off the final goal. And instead of blaming our hopeless situations on theirs and throwing in the towel, we must make an effort to be thankful for all that we have, however meager and useless it may appear to be at that time. At the end of the day, it is this pursuit of happiness that makes us the people we are, humbled by our experiences and thus more receptive to the pleasures of happyness. (^_^)V

Based on the story named pursuit of happiness, i am really amazed of the strong will that been showed by the main character in this story that is played by will smith. He had been in a lot of stressful situation along the story, but he amazingly did not gave up but instead he always think positive that he will find a way to solve his problems. Furthermore, he also had to deal with his own wife who did not managed to cope with the situation that their life is revolve with problems one after another. As goes say, every dark cloud has a silver lining, the same goes to the main actor in this story, he finally managed to get a job at the company which he had to be the intern for almost half a year, which cost him to almost losing everything that he had. I remember part of the story which the scene that showed when he get the job that he wanted, his eyes were filled with tears and that really touch me as all his hardwork and the hardship that he and his son had to endure were finally worth it. As for me,this story had motivated me to become a person that never give up when life is being tested with lot of problems. Think positive and as muslims we should believe that Allah is always with us to help us during our hardship and with Allah only we seek for help. On top of that, this story is really a great movie that had give me a lot of benefits on how to deal with daily life problems. Thank you.

Assalamualaikum madam..I still remembered when you first entered the class and wanted to played this movie. At first,I was very excited as the class did not go as usual especially at night. When our class finished the movie,I realized that I have learnt something valuable.Happiness can be looked in two ways;short term and long term happiness. For the short term,it can be felt everyday by everybody. For example when you complete doing your work, get money and many others. In this movie, the hero Chris get his short term happiness when he can sell the machine to the doctor as the money is like oxygen for his family to survive. While the long term happiness is very difficult to gain in everyday of our life.It need sacrifice and focus in our work to achieve our goal.At the end of this movie,I have seen that Chris has achieve his long term happiness as he become stockbroker. To achieve this he faced many challenging day work as he must compete with others and he also have very limited time. The last things I realized is that there is no shortcut in our life.We must do something to get what we want. Finally, this movie must be watched by all people in order to get motivated.

Based on the movie, I learned that we must never give up and be strong in facing all the difficulties in our life. Sometimes we think that all the obstacles and problems faced by us are unbearable. But we must bear in our mind that Allah knows the best for us and He stated in al-Quran that He will never test all humans unless we are able to face it. The best thing is everything happens for reasons. Just like what Chris Gardner suffer after investing his family's savings in portable bone-density scanners. The investment is a failure and breaks the family as his wife, Linda leave him and his son to move to New York. If it does not happen, he may not have a chance to become an intern stockbroker.
When facing difficulties and all problems in our life, as a muslim we need to seek help from Allah and ask guidance and help from Him. He is the first we need to refer to. Allah stated in al-Quran that asks from Him for anything. So, just ask from Him. InsyaAllah, He will grant our wishes. In this movie, I found that Chris went to church. It shows that he also know the importance of god in his life.
I think family is important for us and they are the closest people with us in this world. At least we have them who can support and give motivation to us in facing all the pains. It is quite frustrated after watching Linda left Chris and their son to move to New York. For me, the best wife and mother will never left the family in time of difficulties. In my opinion, I think Linda is sick of all Chris failure and she see there is no more hope in Chris. Other than that, I found that Chris never ask for help neither from his family nor Linda’s family. I also learned that we need to make friend with the right people. True friend will never left his or her friend in time of difficulties.
When Chris is not able to pay his income taxes, his bank account is garnished by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) of United States and he and his young son are evicted. I think the penalty is quite heartless and unreasonable as Chris is jobless and struggle in finding money to support the family. I think it is better to be more considerate towards the needy and people with serious financial problems. The lesson is we need to help the needy and poor people. The government should help them so that they will able to survive in their life.

Assalamualaikum, madam. For me, I think what the movie want to deliver is the hardship as well as the efforts faced by most of the people in the world. It was depicted by the lead actor to tell us that sometimes life is not as easy as we may think. However, we as Muslims must know that everything that we faced in our life have been planned by Allah and they are not the things that we are unable to overcome as Allah is the Most Merciful to His servants.

Assalamualaikum, madam. For me, I think the movie tries to depict the hardship and the efforts that some people have to face during their lifes. In pursuing of success, not everything will be easy as we may think. But if we believe in ourselves, nothing is impossible. This can be seen when the lead actor, Chris Gardner applied the job as broker eventhough he has a low academic qualification. He made it at last to get the job. Success is not only for graduate students but success is for those people who believe in themselves and act accordingly. In Islam, we learn that every difficulty that we faced in our lifes have been planned by Allah and they will not exceed our own capability to dealt with them. So, what we need to do is that we have to try our very best at all times to solve the problems without forgetting to pray to Allah so that Allah help us to solve the problems.
Another thing that I learnt from the movie is that thinking of an idea is easier than implementing and making sure that it works. Will Smith acting as Chris Gardner tried his best to improve his family financial strength by buying a huge amount of expensive medical devices with the expectation that many doctors would want to use and buy these devices. Unfortunately, that didn't happen. He was stuggling afterwards with financial burden and he had to think of another job to do.
Another thing that I learnt is that we must have strong personality. Chris Gardner eventhough he low academic qualification, he able to impress the mainboard members of the company with his excellent personality. As a result, he was offered to join the internship programme to become a broker. For me as a student, that is the thing that I must focus to improve. Employers nowaday will not only look at our academic achievements, but they will be much impressed if we have strong soft skills especially leadership and adorable personality.

if i were chris gardner, the thing that i would do to is finding a more reliable job. however, before i do that i would first settle my problem with my wife, so that it will not keep following and disturbing mw and my work. what's so special about him that i respect most is his attitude towards his son and he is a very gentle man. chris gardner should have know that the bone density scanner machine that he is selling is not worth it. and those thing is hard to sell. so, it will need extra hard work in order to sell it.

more importantly, if i were him, i would have do the same as him when the machine was stolen. i also will catch the theft until i get it back. this is because that is the only way for me to get the money at that time so, nothing must be wasted. interestingly about him is that he is a very determined person. the question that he asked the man at the broker company has really changed him to pursuit for the happiness.

nevertheless, linda leaves him as a result of their arguing so much. for this part, if i were him as a husband we should direct our family well and be smart not leading with emotions. so, i will convince my wife as strong as i can. as a human we must accept everything that happen after we've try so hard on getting the best.

the part that really touch me the most is when he was with his son at the train station. at that time, they have no where to go and sleep. so when he play with his son end up being in the toilet to sleep, this part really touch me to the heart.

if i were chris gardner, i would also finding trustful people for me to deal and asking for help. at least a place to sleep as i have as son with me. the job that very suitable for me at that time before getting offered the broker thing is of course being a driver.

in conclusion, i really like this movie as it is based on true story on how a person searching happiness for his family. i also loved the attitude of hard work shows by chris in this movie.

thank you...

The Pursuit of Happyness is about Christopher Gardner, a man who went through many misfortunes and struggling to survive for the sake of his son until he finally become a very successful stockbroker. the movie started off with him, his wife and his son living a poor and stressful life. The story flow with their struggles become more heartbreaking from time to time. His wife left him due to financial issues. Chris and his son's living situation deteriorates. They go from living in an apartment, to a motel, to a harrowing night spent sleeping in a subway station restroom, and finally to a homeless shelter but the experience of having no father allowed Chris to be a good father to his son at all circumstances. After seeing a red Ferrari, he wanted to be a stockbroker. He worked towards that, homeless and all. That shows determination and motivation; to work towards a goal when it seems almost impossible. After being hired by Bearstone’s stock company, Chris gradually succeeded as a stockbroker. He later went on to open his own brokerage firm. I think the message to audience is to not give up when things get difficult and that success is worth working hard for. I think the movie is a good film for teenagers who wanted to know where they want to go in life. People who hadn’t really been through anything should watch this movie and realize how fortunate they are. I think this movie teaches the audiences that they are one choice away from being in Chris’s former predicament. I like this movie because it shows the steps Chris took to become successful. The movie didn’t just go straight to the success part but emphasized on the, at times, impossible hardships we need to go through for the sake of the one we love, and of course for a better future. I recommend that high schools, colleges, correctional institutions and jails should consider this movie as an option because it gives off a good, heartfelt message.

LESSONS LEARNT
1. BELIEVE IN YOURSELF
It is okay if people do not believe in your dreams as long as you believe in yourself!
His wife thought that stock broker internship was a waste of time. In fact, she did not even believe he had what it took to make it as a stock broker and teased him.
It must have been hurtful for him, when his own wife did that. It can be that in certain situation, even your own family and friends do not believe in you and discourage you instead.
It is not what they think about you that matters but it is what you believe in yourself which makes you go forward and strive for the best.
Chris believed in himself and won the internship position and went on to become a successful stockbroker. He even started his own brokerage firm later in his newfound life.
Believe in yourself even when others do not believe in you.
2. IT’S NEVER TOO OLD or TOO YOUNG TO START SOMETHING NEW.
Chris was already in his 40's when he started the internship at the stock brokerage firm.
I am pretty sure that he was conscious of the fact that the other people competing for the position were half his age, but he neither let that stop him nor allow his age to be a barrier to his goals.
Someday, you might look at yourself and think, “I am too old for this!” or “I am too young to start this!” Age is nothing but just a number.
What matters the most is that his willingness and drive of motivation to succeed despite of his old age.
Take this for an example; Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) was the work of a retired colonel. Now, who told you that you are too old to start and succeed?!
3. BE WISE WHEN MAKING DECISIONS.
One bad decision and your life can be turned upside down.
Certain decisions, like Chris’s decision to invest in the medical bone density scanner, can make life more difficult than you can ever imagine.
However, his decision to be involved in being a stockbroker made his life much better.
The point is not to avoid making big decisions in fear of making your life extremely bad, but to make sure that you always have a lifeline.
Dumping your savings in something you do not understand is hardly a smart decision.

4. NEVER GIVE UP
Once you fall, it does not mean that you would not stand back up on your feet. You might be on the edge of falling down, but bear in mind, make your initial fall as a reason to stand up and move forward towards success.
Chris was willing to keep going. He was willing to face another rejection from another doctor who might not buy his bone density machine. He was willing to take the risk to become an intern at a Stock Brokerage company even though the position was not paid for 6 months. He was still willing to attend the interview for the stock broker intern position even though he had spent the previous night in jail. He never quits and always had hope for the best.
There is always hope if you never quit.
6. A STEP BACKWARD IS A STEP FORWARD
Sometimes you need to take that step backward. If what you are presently doing does not yield the results you want, then you might have to take a step back. You might have to change careers and go back to school. You might have to learn a new trade and begin as a trainee.
In the movie, Chris was telling his wife that he was going for an intern position at the stock brokerage company and she responded by saying that "sales man to intern is a step backward".
Don't let pride and the opinions of people stop you. Do what needs to be done to make progress and have a better future. Take a step backward when necessary. Hold off your ego.

THE PURSUIT OF HAPPYNESS
This story about Chris Gardner and his life. He married to Linda. He has son named Jaden Christopher. He is a salesman. He sells portable bone density scanner. He lives in San Francisco. I am very touched watching this movie because difficulty that Chris faced in his life very challenging compare to myself. He do not whined about his life. He faced it with patience. His life has categorized in several parts. First part is riding bus. He owned a car but his car had been pulled because do not pay parking ticket. So, he went to sell his product by riding bus to clinics. However, his product looks like time machine. One man that sit beside him believe it is time machine. So funny. Second part of his life is being stupid. He trusted a hippie girl with his scanner but the girl take away his scanner and run way. Chris chase her but he was late. He asked one man how to become stockbroker and he said good with numbers and people. So, he went to the internship. Next part is running. He had been running for his scanner to take back from the hippie girl. He has problem with his wife. They always argued about money to pay rent which two month left behind. He wants his son to stay with although his has no money. One day, he got phone call from his friend that he show he can solve the puzzle of cube, to call his secretary to come for interview of internship. I am very amazed his ability to memorize the phone number that he gat, he want to write it before but he could find a piece of paper so, he decided to memorize. After that. He got down to shop to write the phone number correctly although his friend was talked to him. On that day he had to be interviewed, he was in jail because do not pay parking ticket. This movie is basically very inspiring to me. It taught me many lessons that I can apply in my life. Moreover, it is based on true story, so, I can feel the realistic of the story in our real life.
Firstly, Chris Gardner invested his savings to buy portable bone-density scanners in large scale. I learned that he is an optimistic person because he thinks he can sell all of it easily as future investment. However, it is a bit stupid of him because he should think and make research first if that product is valuable to be selling or not. From that, I learned that I should think first before making any big decision because it can affect me in the future.
Secondly, Chris Gardner is a man who loves his family. Even though he lives in not-so-well condition, he still provides the best to his son. He provides his son the best food while he’s eating a normal food. He’s also very determined to take care of his son when his wife left him. It shows how much he loves his son. From that, I learned that I must become a man who is able to sacrifice anything for the loved ones.
Thirdly, Chris Gardner is a very hardworking man and never gives up. He never gives up even though he’s been going through so much suffering in life. As an intern, he works hard every day in order to get the one paid position that he and his 19 competitors are fighting for. He had to work in the morning and afternoon and then lining for the shelter in the Church every evening. Lastly, his hard work has paid off when he’s offered the position as a stockbroker. From that, I learned that I have to work hard and never gives up in order to success because I believe Allah will help us if we are really sincere and work hard.
Fourthly, I learned that I have to expand my connection of people and make more friends. It is important because we can help each other when someone is in problem. We should not become a selfish people.
In contrary, there are some negative things come from this movie. I think Chris Gardner should handle his matter with his wife in a better way and work out a way to reconcile with his wife. Secondly, I think the way Chris Gardner reaches out to potential high value customers gives me a mixed feeling. It looks like he’s taking a shortcut to success. However, looking from different angle, I think he’s just making friends in his own way as long as he’s not involved in bribery.
In overall, the movie came up with a great surprise because I thought it will bring me into the brink of boredom, but it kept me addicted to watch it until the end. Some parts maybe a bit slow to watch but it is forgivable.
I can give the movie 8.5/10.
